Ah, fill the cup - what boots it to repeat;
How time is slipping underneath our feet;
Unborn tomorrow and dead yesterday;
Why fret about them if today be sweet!
[Omar Khayyam]
This blog is a tribute to my parents, who brought me up with love and care with a reasonably good education enabling me to be a rational human being.
The late Jayaweera Arachchige Hendrick Ranasinghe of Meddagoda, Ganemulla, and the late Liyana Arachchige Dona Somawathie of Narahenpita, Colombo, Sri Lanka, being my beloved father and mother, I was born on 20 August 1949 in a middle class family of five children in a typical jungle like lush green village called Meddagoda-Kandaliyadda Paluwa in the Gampaha district in Sri Lanka.
I had been working for M/s Blair-Anderson Ltd, Dubai, UAE as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, with the professional credentials of corporate memberships from the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and the Association of Cost Engineers in the UK.
